Pelisor Castle, situated in the park of the Peles Castle, was designed by the Czech architect Karel Liman and of the Viennese artist Bernhardt Ludwig, who decorated the edifice. Being a small castle, its construction was ready between 1899 and 1902, from 1903 being a summer residence for the royal family.

Pelisor has 99 rooms, being decorated as a pricier residence, after the plans of Queen Mary. The Honor Hall has boxes made of wood and the deck made of glass is decorated with stained glass. The Bedroom has wooden furniture, decorated with Celtic and Byzantine motives, Art Nouveau style. The walls of the Golden Room are decorated with leaves, and the lamp from the deck has the shape of a Celtic cross. The desk of the king Ferdinand is dominated by elements that inspire solemnity. The integrated chapel to the apartment of Queen Mary is accessible by an arcade with columns and the queen’s desk is situated in a room with Brancoveanean columns, having furniture designed by her. The castle can be considered as being the building that offers the most significant representation of the European decorative arts from the 19th century in Romania.

The exterior of the castle is much alike to the one from the German Burgs during late Renaissance. As a decorative element it is valued the wood from the structure of the building.

The Castle detains a valuable collection of decorative art, among which the following artists are remembered: E.Galle, The Daum Brothers, J. Hoffmann, L.C. Tiffany, Gurschner etc.
